horses.

Malibu Library, Malibu, CA. Twelve Judy Nienow oil paintings featuring
surreal still life narratives enacted by dolls, toy clowns and other unusual objects.
-- Signs of Our Times. March 2005. Townley Rm Gallery, Santa Barbara Library, 11 E. Anapamu St, Santa Barbara, CA.
A jury-awarded exhibit featuring seven Judy Nienow bookshelf melodramas and fourteen Urban Landscapes with signage. Urban locations included California cities Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Hollywood,
and Venice as well as New York City and Paris, France.
Two-Person and Limited-Group Shows:
-- Rhythm of Love. (eight-artist show) Feb-May 2006. Fielding Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, CA. Five Judy Nienow bookshelf melodramas on
the theme of Love were requested for this show. Judy’s painting “Bereavement”
was declared “best work in the show” by SB NewsPress reviewer Josef Woodard.
-- The Figure Obscured (juried group show). Jan-Feb 2006. Channing Peake Gallery, SB County Administration
Bldg, Santa Barbara, CA. Judy Nienow’s “Adrift In Others’ Expectations” (bookshelf
melodrama) was included in this exhibit sponsored by the Santa Barbara County Arts Commission, Marie Schoeff curator.

As “runner-up” in the oil painting division, Judy had three paintings in this show. Her architectural theatre-façade close-up “Hollywood Vogue” was the color photo chosen to accompany
the SB NewsPress review of this show.
--“Subliminal Celebrations: Mosaic
Inspirations” (6 artist show), April 2-27, 2004. Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, 511
W. 25th St., Chelsea; New York, NY. Three Judy Nienow bookshelf melodramas were included in this exhibit, during which Judy was interviewed
for the Manhattan-based Crystal Hart television show. (Interview broadcast in
June 2005.)
---“BRAVE DESTINY” (huge, international juried surrealist exhibit). Sept. 28
– Nov. 2, 2003. Williamsburg Art and Historical
Center, Brooklyn, New York. Judy’s painting “Transformation:
Hollywood Horror” (depicting masks in a costume shop on Hollywood Blvd.)
was one of 75 images featured on the spectacular poster for this show.

---“ARCHITECTURAL GEMS OF SANTA BARBARA” (juried exhibit sponsored by Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara) Apr- May 2003. Acheson Gallery in Santa Barbara. Judy’s painting “Former
Dana’s Toytown” was selected to accompany the exhibit review in the Santa Barbara NewsPress.
---“SANTA BARBARA AFTER DARK” Mar 3 – June 30, 2003. Fielding
Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, CA. Co-sponsored by Santa Barbara Visual Arts Alliance. Judy and
Warner Nienow organized and curated a provocative forty-painting show of Santa Barbara
nighttime paintings including eight additional local painters. The Nienows compiled
and produced a 28-page booklet on the night painting experience using solicited
commentary from each participating artist. Favorable reviews in Santa Barbara
NewsPress and Santa Barbara Independent. Judy’s painting “Waiting
For Superman” was used as postcard image and selected for contents page image in SouthWest Art magazine, May 2003.
---“DARK HOLLYWOOD”. Gallery 113, Santa Barbara. As Featured Artists of the Month
(May 2002), Judy and Warner Nienow presented 24 architectural paintings showcasing night scenes of Hollywood Boulevard. Favorably reviewed
in Santa Barbara Independent. Judy’s painting “Skyline With T. Rex”
was purchased by the Ripley Entertainment Group whose Hollywood Odditorium it depicts.
Other Galleries: Judy’s architectural subjects were represented by Waterhouse Gallery, Santa Barbara,
Nov 2004 – May 2005 and by Jean Marc Pontet’s “American Art Gallery” in Deauville,
